Busy busy
I’ve been working away in the workshop to build up some stock and fill orders from Maison, I’ll put some pictures up on my blog, I love it when the workshop is full of pots drying out and waiting to be fired.
I also had to write some blurb for a personal statement and thought it might be interesting on here too so here it is!
‘Rachel Dormor started making pots on a potters wheel at 14. After college she worked as a potters apprentice for several years before starting a business with the help of the PrincesTrust in 2001. Recognising the need to keep up with developments in industry and design prompted a move to Stoke on Trent for Rachel and in 2007 she was awarded a bursary to study an MA in Ceramic Design at Staffordshire University. Graduating in 2009 saw the company showcase new products in Paris, Frankfurt, Tokyo and NewYork under the careful eye of Pat Steel, Rachel’s trade advisor at the North Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce and the Passport to Export scheme.
In September 2009 Rachel was offered a place on the Enterprise Fellowship Scheme at the University and has used the funding and business support to develop an international tableware company in the heart of ceramic manufacturing. With this support Rachel has managed to enter into negotiations for distribution arrangements with clients in Europe and the USA as well as increasing the number of stockists and the turnover in the UK.’
