September always feels like the start of the year to me, maybe its all those years of working in a college but there’s definitely a freshness in the air and new things around the corner.
Evening classes start again this week and are full but please contact me if you would like to go on the waiting list. I’m offering lots of weekend workshops and some half day sessions too to keep up with demand. If you got a voucher this year and haven’t cashed it in please email me to book up or have it extended, all the info is on the voucher.
I’ve been working on a new collection of work this year which is decorated with slips and lustres, its available now from my shop at Burwash or from Primavera in Cambridge. I’m working on some much larger works this year and have been throwing pots with 9kg of clay! Look out for the big reveal later this year….There are sale bargains in my shop as I sell off the last of my older collection so if you’ve got your eye on something head over to the shop.
And so that brings me to the change, my adorable shop at Burwash will be closing on October 15th so I can concentrate on the workshop and my own work. I’ve also been teaching in Leicester, developing some digital teaching resources and writing some A levels for Cambridge University, and weirdly, there just aren’t enough hours in the day to fit it all in!
Here’s the link to see what workshops are running this autumn, there will be a small price increase in January and we have kept some days back for private workshops or small groups so if you want to get together with some friends just get in touch to book a session.

Where does the time go? It has been a really busy start to the year with two large trade orders and two big shows to get ready for. Its been stop start though with illness, exploding punch bowls and glazes that don’t do as they should.
The good news is that I am all set up at the Country Living Spring Fair! I had such a nice time last year that I booked the same spot so I’m on MB82. This year I am thrilled to be showing as the gallery and sharing my space with Jo Tunmer and Birgitte Bruun. We have some very beautiful work to show, all made especially for the show so come and see us! Check out my photos on Twitter and Instagram @potteryrachel
Here’s the link for the discounted tickets here enter code EX16S25
Over at the gallery its the last chance to see Tess Ainley’s beautiful collage and stitch work and we have some stoneware bowls with scrafitto mark-making by Sarah Jenkins. Showing in the graduate showcase is work by Kate Welton and we’ve just had a new delivery of tea towels with sheds on by Andy McKenzie. There’s lots to see at Burwash so come for some spring sunshine.
In the studio there are still places on the beginners throwing day on April 9th and a few places left on the easter holiday workshops. I’ll be listing the autumn workshops at Easter so sign up to the mailing list now to be the first to know. Here’s the booking page:www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/rachel-dormor-ceramics
